Welcome to My Blog. The First Layer…

I have just finished the first week of Flora Bowley’s Bloom True E-Course and it is amazing! I have learned so much from her already and it’s only been a few days. The most important thing I learned this week is not to fear the first layer. When you are starting something new (a blog, a painting, even a relationship or a job) don’t worry about the first layer. More than likely you won’t even be able to see it by the time you really get going. It doesn’t matter. Just enjoy it and have some fun. Just cover up the white canvas.

This was a huge help to me as I have been stalled out wanting this blog to be “just right” before I actually started posting on it. Well let me tell you it’s not…and now I accept it’s not supposed to be. It’s just the first layer and that is just fine with me.

I hope this blog will be a place for me to share what I relish: art, love and life. I hope it will bring a little beauty and inspiration to anyone who visits. Most of all I am excited to share the journey. The journey through the next layers…

Thank you Jenny for sharing your experience and gain insight. What a perfect metaphor for all of the changes and new endeavors in life. You can’t get to where you want to be without that first layer or taking that first step which is just the foundation for all that you will build on top! I am so excited to go along this journey with you! Julie

Hi! I too am doing Flora’s e-course at the moment (isn’t it amazing!)… glad that it has given you the courage to take the ‘blog’ leap. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while now but have been waiting until I have ‘something more interesting’ to share…e-hm. Perhaps I am just procrastinating and feeding the fear of “what do I have to offer?” That fear of the first layer is surely a tricky one! This course is really helping me to see my whole life differently though… time to step forward and be brave!

Hi Meredith! I had the same fears and I procrastinated for quite a while because of them. All I can tell you is that everyone has something special to share. There is no one else in the world that is like you. As you spend time being creative and connected to your heart you will find your true voice emerging and what it is you want to share. Once you are comfortable with that the rest is easy. Stay tuned as I will be posting a series in the next few weeks of ways to help you get there as well as my own story. Where are you from in Australia? My husband is from outside of Sydney. I love Australia.

Hi Jenny…Thank you! What lovely encouragement! I live in Sydney – but I grew up in the Blue Mountains which is a couple of hours out of Sydney 🙂 . I truly believe this course is going to bring me to a point of change (and acceptance) in so many aspects of my life – I’m already noticing this! Incredibly, this is right where I need to be… I have so much gratitude for this opportunity, including all the people I have been given the chance to connect with. I’ll definitely stay tuned for your tips and insight… so valued! 🙂 Peace, love and gratitude…

I’m taking Flora’s class too and love it! That’s awesome that you connected the first layers of a painting to starting a blog. Every single blog out there is a work in progress, even the biggest and greatest ones. As you continue to do it, you will see what you like and what you want to change. Find some other artist ones to follow too, because the inspiration out there is endless. Best of luck to you!

Jenny, what a great idea – combining these “firsts” together. I’m in Flora’s e-course too, getting off to a slow start though because I’m taking 3 e-courses simultaneously ! Not quite ready for the blog plunge yet. looking forward to visiting with you as the course progresses… who knows, your initiative just might be the tipping point for me too !

Thanks Irene! What other e-courses are you taking? I get so tempted to take more because there are so many cool ones. I am loving Flora’s! It has exceeded my expectations by far. I can’t wait to see where we all end up with our paintings!
