07 Jan Happy New Year! Out With the Old…
We have our holiday decorations up from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year’s day so there are no sad goodbye’s from me when it is time to take them down. I can’t get that tree out of my house fast enough. Then, it’s go time.
Once all of the Christmas stuff is out I want to keep going. I am in purge mode. Closets, attic, porch, garage…I get rid of everything that is old, worn out, broken or just not serving anymore. Out it goes. My kids hide their toys and their favorite shoes in fear of them being spotted and added to the Goodwill pile. I love it!
So as of this moment my attic is nearly empty and the Goodwill has a great new stash. I also have a nice little collection for Craig’s list which I am hoping will provide some fun money for phase two.
Clearing space in my house (and therefore in my mind) lets me look around at everything with fresh eyes. I’ve changed over the last year and now I see that my house needs to change too. It’s needs some fixing up and a little pretty here and there. I’m working on it starting with my office/workspace. I mentioned in a previous post that one of my goals is to post on this blog more regularly. I thought it might help if I made my workspace pretty and inviting so that is what I am doing. I will keep you posted on my progress.
I’ve already rearranged the furniture in three rooms so far. It’s a great way to shake up the energy without spending any money. I’ve also discovered Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint which is amazing!!! It has every piece of furniture in my house shuddering wondering if it will be next?!? Check it out if you are looking for a new addiction http://anniesloan.com/index.html and when when you are ready to try it visit http://www.anniesloanunfolded.com/ for US retailers.
I’ll be in touch soon. Right now I have to put another coat of paint on my desk…
