Joy in a Bottle (well, sort of)

When I get excited about something, I feel compelled to share it. Those of you who know me know it can be anything from a bronzer to a new tea to a life-changing spiritual insight. Whatever it is that’s got my attention, you are going to hear about it. Like it or not. I can’t even help myself. Today is one of those days.

I know I have talked about my passion for magazines more than once but at the risk of repeating myself I’m going to do it again. It’s hard to even call Bella Grace a magazine because it is truly on another level. I’m going to do my best to put into words the impact it has had on me.

I bought their very first issue in October as a birthday present to myself. I was going through a little burn out spell and we were going away to stay with a friend for the weekend in the mountains. I know the lay of the land in the magazine world so I am quick to pick up on new offerings. As I scanned the racks for what I wanted to bring with me on the trip I spotted Bella Grace and grabbed it immediately.

I flipped through the pages quickly in the store and my eyes teared up. The beauty, inspiring pictures and thought provoking stories about celebrating the ordinary touched me deeply. I knew instantly the cure for my burnout was in these pages. I had planned to find a quite corner when we got to the mountainsto devour my new score but I couldn’t wait and I ended up reading it in the car on the way there.

I say it’s hard to call Bella Grace a magazine because it is really more of a joy workbook. It’s thick, luscious paper are full of yummy photography and beautiful stories. Each topic has questions and prompts to get you thinking about your own life and tips on ways you can tap in to inspiration and incorporate it into your day to day routine. I have gone back and reread it 3 or 4 times. I even cut out some of the pictures to have them around me. It’s love.

What does this have to do with today and my excitement? Well, originally they were going to publish Bella Grace only twice a year. When you see the amount of love and work that has gone into it you can understand why. So yesterday I was scanning the racks at Barnes and Noble looking for some inspiration when I saw a new Bella Grace! My heart literally starting beating faster as I grabbed it to be sure what I saw was real. Yep! It turns out they got such an overwhelming response from people like me who’s hearts and minds were blown away by that first issue that they are publishing it quarterly now!

If you are like me you are in the throws of the holiday season and all the stress that comes with it. I am in need of a quite moment and some joy and inspiration. Let me tell you this magazine is bursting with it.

So tonight after my girls are asleep, I will sit in silence by my Christmas tree, with my fuzzy blanket and a cup of tea and I will dive in to this work of art and let it fill up my soul.

I invite you to do the same.
